This mornings learning

This morning for reading we are reading a book called The Haunting by Margaret Mahy. In this book there is a boy called Barney and he thinks that seeing ghost is normal for him, It all started when he was young and he knew that he was being haunted again. Today we are reading the second chapter for the book. We answered some review question from the site and we had to answer it and make it into a review.

The book review about The Haunting by Margaret Mahy

Today Weka group read a book called the haunting by Margaret Mahy and it's all about how the boy Barney see's ghost and hears ghost.

Book Review of (Insert Title here) by (author). The book review of the Haunting by Margaret Mahy. This book  is about a boy name Barney and he thinks that seeing ghost is normal for him. He started seeing ghost when he was a young boy and he thought that seeing ghost is like when you fall off a bike or fall on the ground and cry. My favourite part of The Haunting book was  when the boy Barney thought he was getting close to death. I like this book because it is scary and has a lot of details about the boy and what is happening in the book.  I think someone that is interested and loves to read scary horror books, I think I would tell people that are really wanting to read this story.

Book review by: By Dallas

I rated this book 5 out of 5 because when I started reading through the first chapter it was interesting and then when I got to the middle of the chapter it was explaining what is happening to the boy.

Seeing sound

Materials we used for our science experiments:
Jar
Balloon
Scissors
sugar

Step 1: We cut the end of the balloon.

Step 2: Stretch over top of jar.

Step 3: Sprinkle sugar on top of the balloon and finally we had to humming to make the sugar vibrate.

Conclusion: We notice that when we were making a humming the sugar was bouncing up and down.

Do you think the sound make the sugar bounce up and down or was it your breathe or your nose.

Balloon experiment

Today room 7 students did a science experiment. We had to put baking powder in the balloon and then blow it up and see what it would sound like.

Here some tips to do this.

Step 1: Put the balloon over the funnel

Step 2: Add a few spoonfuls of icing sugar into the funnel and shake it down to the balloon.

Step 3: Remove the funnel, inflate the balloon and tie the neck to stop the air and icing from escaping. Don't inhale when blowing up the balloon - you'll get icing in your mouth.

Step 4: Go outside to your large open space. Your helper should hold the balloon and a pin. Walk 100 large paces away from them to see if you can hear a sound come out from the balloon.

Step 4: Ask your helper to hold the balloon away from their body. Look at the balloon and signal for your helper to pop it. Watch and listen very carefully - you will hear the balloon pop and see the icing sugar escape.
This is what we did today for our science experiments.

Kakapo fair trade chocolate

Last week Tuesday the 14 of June 2016, The Kakapo group made some chocolate because it was a part of our reading. This is how we made chocolate.

The 1 step: We had to do was roast the cacao nibs (pieces of cacao beans that have been separated from their husks.)

Step 2: We grind the cacao nibs to become cacao powder.

Step 3: Next we melted the cacao butter.

Step 4: Add cacao nibs, milk powder and sugar gradually while stirring

Step 5: Final step place the mixture in moulds and leave to set in the fridge until ready.

Final we get to eat the chocolate after when it is set. If you want to make this kind of chocolate here are some of the ingredients you can use.

Kiwi Can

Today room 7 students had kiwi can lessons. We talked about Accountability and Integrity, Accountability means accepting responsibility and Integrity means looking up to someone and making the right choices also being a good role model to peers. We played an energiser game called buddy buddy, If Mr Numia called out buddy buddy right or left or buddy buddy under, player two has to stay inside the circle and wait until the caller calls for buddy buddy under out, If a team comes late their out.

After playing that game we went back to class and played another game called overtake. In overtake we have to be in two teams number one and number two, the teams were called Soccer and Basketball. It was simple because if we are in team one we pass the ball to the next person not the one that is right beside you because they would be in group two if you drop the ball you do one star jump and try and catch up with the other team, The teams were called Soccer and Basketball.

We finished off with GKQ's. Today I learnt that Accountability means accepting responsibility and making good choices. For GKQ .
