This weeks reading

Fair Chocolate
We are learning to identify the author’s purpose for writing a text.

Vocabulary
Meaning
fair trade,
Fair trade is where people help companies and give the same amount they have to the other company.
profits,
A financial gain, especially the difference between the amount earned and the amount spent in buying,
consumers,
A person who purchases goods and services for personal use.

shareholder,
Meaning of a shareholder is an owner of shares in a company.
commodity broker
Commodity broker is a firm or individual who executes orders to buy or sell commodity contracts on behalf of clients and charges them a commission.

What is fair trade? When you share something and they give something back equally.

What is an example of fair trade? If someone gives 5 dollars to their friend they can pay them back the next day or week. That if they haven’t got 5 dollars on that day if they need it.

Do you think this article is for or against fair trade? Or both? Both because companies can probably trade and never give something they took from another company.

How is chocolate made? Cacao tree

Why might the author include this information? Because what is in the chocolate and they're probably warning the people but in the book it doesn’t say how we can die from chocolate.

Why might the author tell us about chocolate in NZ? Probably people want to know what is in the chocolate because they probably want to make chocolate.

How do you think the author feels about fair trade chocolate? The person that is telling this story might tell us what is going to happen with this chocolate.

Why have they written this article? Probably warn us how much chocolate we can eat per kilograms probably.

What is the difference between fair trade chocolate and chocolate that is non fair trade? Fair trade is good because their getting an equally amount of money they earn and non fair trade is when their not giving the people that make the chocolate enough money they earn. Their forced to work for people that sell the chocolate.

Non fair trade chocolate is… Non fair chocolate is when companies don’t share the profit with the other company.

This week we read a book about Fair Chocolate.

Maths

Today in maths we did a word problem but it not finished because we only discussed what the kilometres meant. We had to remember nine what to do mathematicians before tomorrow, If we remember all nine we get a price.

I learnt that 14kph is 1 hour so for an example: if I left my house in a car around about 12 and I got to Wellington it would only take an hour to get there or less it doesn't matter what vehicle you going in.

Netball session

Thursday 26 May 2016

Today room 7 students had a netball session with coach Anne, Today we learnt some skills in defending and attack. This morning I learnt a skill were you can attack and defend when another player throws the ball to another player,The first warm up game was Shadow follower that we defend the ball not their face we also had to be in pairs to practice our defending.

The next game we played was an intercept activity were we have to intercept when the ball is coming. After a few minutes Anne said to find another pair so there can be 4 of us to take turns in intercepting the ball. After that game we played four corners attack/defend activity.

Before our session was over we played a game of shooting were we are split into two teams, We got a number 1 to 13 and if our number is called out we had run up to the hula hoop and pass the ball to the number 1 before the person that number got called shoots.

Siren Situation

Onehunga - Onehunga high school and primary school and a few other schools. There speakers that they use for emergency have been stolen by people who are on the street riding their bikes and playing their sirens.
The siren gangs have been asked by the police if they have a receipt to proof that their sirens belong to them. People from straight outta Mt roskill have been playing their sirens in the middle of the night and people around their neighbourhood has been woken up and
complaining to the police that their sirens are to loud.

Siren gangs are not stealing siren speakers

MT ROSKILL: Siren gang think their cool when they ride around with their sirens on their bikes or if their on the street having a battle with their friends or neighbourhood. The siren gang probably likes playing their music through it because it loud.

Maths

Today in maths we had to solve finding a set of fractions and adding fractions. These are some of the fractions we did and we did our six timetables.

L.I: Finding fractions of a set
3/4 of 18=13.5
1/2 of 24=12
4/7 of 28=16
3/6 of 36=18
5/6 of 54=45
3/8 of 32=12

L.I: Adding fraction
1/2+3/4=1 whole 1/4
3/4+3/4=1 whole 2/4
4/5+3/5=1 whole 2/5
2/7+3/7=5/7
4/10+2/5=8/10

This is what my maths group learnt today.

Science experiment

Today room 7 students are doing a Science experiment on a potato. We are going to see what will happen to the potato if it can grow in a box with a hole on top or not.

I think that the potato will not grow because it will need sun for it to grow. I also think that the potato might not have much air for it to grow and I will see if it will suffocate in the box.
