This weeks reading

Fair Chocolate
We are learning to identify the author’s purpose for writing a text.

Vocabulary
Meaning
fair trade,
Fair trade is where people help companies and give the same amount they have to the other company.
profits,
A financial gain, especially the difference between the amount earned and the amount spent in buying,
consumers,
A person who purchases goods and services for personal use.

shareholder,
Meaning of a shareholder is an owner of shares in a company.
commodity broker
Commodity broker is a firm or individual who executes orders to buy or sell commodity contracts on behalf of clients and charges them a commission.

What is fair trade? When you share something and they give something back equally.

What is an example of fair trade? If someone gives 5 dollars to their friend they can pay them back the next day or week. That if they haven’t got 5 dollars on that day if they need it.

Do you think this article is for or against fair trade? Or both? Both because companies can probably trade and never give something they took from another company.

How is chocolate made? Cacao tree

Why might the author include this information? Because what is in the chocolate and they're probably warning the people but in the book it doesn’t say how we can die from chocolate.

Why might the author tell us about chocolate in NZ? Probably people want to know what is in the chocolate because they probably want to make chocolate.

How do you think the author feels about fair trade chocolate? The person that is telling this story might tell us what is going to happen with this chocolate.

Why have they written this article? Probably warn us how much chocolate we can eat per kilograms probably.

What is the difference between fair trade chocolate and chocolate that is non fair trade? Fair trade is good because their getting an equally amount of money they earn and non fair trade is when their not giving the people that make the chocolate enough money they earn. Their forced to work for people that sell the chocolate.

Non fair trade chocolate is… Non fair chocolate is when companies don’t share the profit with the other company.

This week we read a book about Fair Chocolate.

Hi Dallas, did the author mention the problems with eating chocolate in this book? I know in the other article we read we found out about being poisoned by chocolate, but I'm not sure if anything was written about this in the book.I look forward to finishing this work this week!
